LIVINGSTON - The victim of a horrific attack is speaking out about the day that changed her life, and the road that lies ahead.

Terry Thompson suffered severe burns over her face and body on March 29 when her ex-husband, 47-year-old Byron Stokely, allegedly boiled hot oil and poured it on her while she was sleeping. He then allegedly beat her with the empty pot.

Thompson is currently in the burn unit at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston.

The 32-year-old mother of two says Stokely attacked her because he was angry that she wasn't interested in sex.

Through it all, Thompson has tried to remain positive, and is focused on recovery. "At this point, it doesn't matter to me anymore how I look on the outside, I think I am beautiful as I am right now," she says.

Stokely fled the Irvington apartment in Thompson's car, which has been recovered. Stokely has not yet been arrested, and police are urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to call police.

A fund has been set up at Wells Fargo Bank to help with Thompson's medical bills.
