A second grade teacher in Texas wrote a letter to parents saying she would not be assigning students homework this year.

TEXAS - A second grade teacher in Texas wrote a letter to parents saying she would not be assigning students homework this year.

Brandy Young sent the letter home to the parents in the Godley independent school district.

The letter announced her new homework policy. Young told parents research has been unable to prove that homework improves student performance and so she would not be assigning homework this year.

Young wrote that instead of homework - parents should spend their evenings eating dinner as a family, reading together, playing outside and getting your child to bed early.
