GRAND CONCOURSE - More than 6,000 cyclists of all ages took part in the 19th annual Tour de Bronx this morning.

Riders from New York and as far away as Alaska biked either a 25 or 40-mile route through the Bronx in the state's largest free bike ride event.

Participants say the ride is a great way to explore the city, even if you've lived there your whole life. One resident says there is always something new to see in the Bronx no matter how long you've been there.

Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. says the event's route is designed to give riders a chance to see many different parts of the Bronx. Parts of the borough the tour passed through include City Island, the Bronx Greenway and the Sheridan Expressway.
