NEW YORK - As many celebrated Three Kings' Day around the world, New Yorkers gathered in Spanish Harlem for a celebration of their own.

The 40th annual Three Kings' Day Parade route went down Lexington Avenue and culminated at the El Museo del Barrio.

Schools from the Bronx and Brooklyn were in attendance, getting off for what some say is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Mayor Bill de Blasio was also on hand, leading the procession.

Three Kings' Day stems from the Bible, when the wise men brought baby Jesus gifts and declared him the son of God. It's a day for gifts and tradition -- in some areas, children leave their shoes outside in hopes they will be filled with candy.
