THROGS NECK - A Throgs Neck family says the NYPD fired a bullet at their window while trying to arrest a resident who lives in the apartment.

William Schenkel's sister and stepfather say they were told by police officers that they were chasing Schenkel after he tried to get into a neighbor's car, then ran. Schenkel's family says he has a drug problem and was high during the incident.

During the chase, Schenkel's family says officers fired a bullet at their window, nearly striking someone inside.

News 12 The Bronx contacted the NYPD to see if it's investigating the incident, but has not received a response yet.
