THE BRONX - News 12 The Bronx is counting down the top stories of the borough for 2013 as voted by our viewers. Coming in at No. 2 is the continued fight for justice for slain Bronx teen Ramarley Graham.

The unarmed teenager was shot and killed by NYPD Officer Richard Haste in early 2012, but the Graham family learned this past year that that cop would not be indicted in connection with the shooting.

Haste had been facing manslaughter charges after he shot the 18-year-old in his Wakefield home, but a judge tossed out the indictment in May, saying that the Bronx District Attorney's Office gave misleading instructions to a grand jury that compromised their integrity.

A grand jury then decided in August that there was not enough evidence to support the case against Haste, ultimately ruling against a second indictment.

Protests erupted throughout the borough in response to the court rulings. Graham's loved ones say they’re still waiting for the U.S. Justice Department to review the case and determine if any federal civil rights laws were violated.
