THE BRONX - News 12 The Bronx is counting down the top stories of the borough of 2013 as voted by our viewers. Coming in at No. 4 is the gruesome scene that resulted from a woman being run off the road and then stabbed to death.

According to prosecutors, Katherine German was chased on Pelham Parkway in August and then allegedly stabbed by her ex-boyfriend, Dionis Espinal.

Espinal allegedly followed his estranged ex-girlfriend along the parkway, intentionally ramming his green taxi into her vehicle, causing it to flip over. Prosecutors say he then walked up to German's overturned car and stabbed the mother of his children several times, killing her. Espinal has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

Police say the two had a history of domestic violence and in May, German filed a restraining order against Espinal.

The accident and subsequent stabbing happened in front of another person, who was a passenger in German's vehicle. They were not harmed.

Espinal was last seen in court on Dec. 6. The case is still going through pre-trial hearings and Espinal is due back in court on Feb 28. He is being held without bail.
