THE BRONX - After a vote to close six more Bronx schools last night, a total of 10 schools in the borough have been selected by the Panel for Education Policy to be phased out.

Thousands of students, parents and teachers rallied against the proposed closures of the six Bronx schools. The Department of Education says the schools are consistently low-performing and do not serve their communities.

Students who attend Kennedy High School say they can't believe their school was selected to be closed.

Education advocates and students say they plan to fight back. Those against the closures argue the schools need help and can be fixed.

The schools will slowly be phased out and the buildings may shut their doors in 2014.
