THE BRONX - City Island residents are criticizing a new traffic signal that they say is making congestion even worse.

The city's Department of Transportation installed the signal, along with blinking yellow lights to slow down or stop drivers along City Island Avenue while a new bridge is being constructed.

Residents complain that the new lights are creating a traffic nightmare, especially on the weekends, and since the bridge is the only way on or off the island.

The building of the new bridge is expected to last three years.
