THE BRONX - Residents near Southern Boulevard and 174th Street say drivers are not obeying confusing traffic lights and the area could become dangerous for students going to nearby schools.

The intersection has several signs directing people between 174th Street, Southern Boulevard and Boston Road. The multi-lane intersection is also under a subway station. Residents say drivers often disobey the signs directing pedestrians. There are four schools near the intersection.

According to crash statistics, there have been 32 crashes and one fatality in the area.Residents say they want the city to change the signs or install more traffic lights to provide a safer place for students and pedestrians.
