Tremont toddler in critical condition after 4-story fall

THE BRONX - Police say a 2-year-old boy is in critical condition tonight after falling from a fourth-floor window at 1971 Grand Ave. in Tremont.

Witnesses say Andrew Powell?s horrified mother came out of the building moments later.

Investigators say there were no window guards in the apartment from which the boy fell. They say the guards had been removed to make space for an air conditioner and never put back in.

The president of the managing agency for the property says the boy's mother, Erica Romero, worked for the company as a property manager and knew the city's window guard requirements.
