Tri-State Biodiesel turns used cooking oil into fuel

A Bronx-based company is turning used cooking oil into fuel that can be used in generators, trucks or home heating oil.

Tri-State Biodiesel pays up to 50 cents per gallon to buy the used oil from restaurants across the city.

HUNTS POINT - A Bronx-based company is turning used cooking oil into fuel that can be used in generators, trucks or home heating oil.

Tri-State Biodiesel pays up to 50 cents per gallon to buy the used oil from restaurants across the city.

The 10-year-old company, based in Hunts Points, collects cooking oil from about 2,000 eateries in the Bronx.

Residents that use the recycled oil could be eligible to receive up to 20 cents from the state in each gallon used.
