PEARL RIVER - Authorities in Binghamton say they're investigating the accidental death of a college student from Pearl River.

Officials at Binghamton University say freshman Conor Donnelly died Saturday in an accident that occurred off the college campus in neighboring Vestal.

Police say Donnelly tried to climb from a fourth-floor balcony to a third-floor balcony when he fell.

They say autopsy findings showed that alcohol was a factor.

Police also say Donnelly was pledging the fraternity Alpha Sigma Phi, which was hosting a party.

Information Donnelly posted on social media says he was a 2016 graduate of Nanuet Senior High School.

University officials say staff members from the college's counseling center are available for students who are affected by the student's death and wish to speak with someone.

Associated Press wire services contributed to this report.
