Vacant BX bus stop parking tickets to be dismissed

THE BRONX - The Department of Finance says parking tickets that have been issued at vacant bus stops across the Bronx will be dismissed. Since the MTA discontinued several of its Bronx bus lines, drivers have been using the vacant bus stops as parking spaces.

While it was presumed to be legal by drivers, many members of the NYPD issued summonses to the cars in the spots.

One Bronx resident said he even tried to stop traffic agents from ticketing cars, but was told if it still looks like a bus stop, it is not a legitimate parking space.

The Department of Transportation also says all vacant bus stop signs will be removed by Saturday.
