THE BRONX - Van Nest Little League players kicked off opening day Saturday with a new mural at their field.

News 12 previously reported on the vandalism at the league’s clubhouse and scoreboard on the Morris Heights fields last October.

An artist and former Little Leaguer saw the report and volunteered to fix the clubhouse. La Sorsa Auto Group, a local business, donated nearly $1,500 to cover the costs of the repairs.

The artist tells News 12 that it only took a few days to complete the mural. He plans on fixing the scoreboard as his next project.
