THE BRONX - Some parents in Van Nest are hoping to curb speeding near a local school.

Parents who were at Saint Francis Xavier School this morning say there needs to be a traffic light or stop sign across the street at Haight and Van Nest Avenue to keep people from speeding.

Neighbors say the area is especially dangerous during the morning rush when parents and their kids are trying to cross the street.

Father Matthew Furey says he's been trying for months to get the city's Department of Transportation to install a stop sign.

However, the speeding concerns have recently gotten the attention of the 49th Precinct. Officials say they are looking into the matter and will see if they can put a car in the area.
