THE BRONX - The Van Nest neighborhood post office has shut its doors despite community uproar.

The United States Post Office says it has to close and consolidate locations through the borough because fewer people are using paper mail. The location is the third post office to close in the Bronx this year.

Community members and local leaders had protested the closure saying many residents would have to travel out of their way to mail packages. The two employees who worked at the post office have been reassigned, according to USPS.
