THE BRONX - A wreath laying ceremony was held today at a memorial near the Pelham Parkway to honor the men and women who have served the nation.

Dozens of people gathered at the Rudy Macina Peace Memorial Plaza to pay tribute to the sacrifices made by the U.S. military.

The memorial, at the corner of Pelham Parkway and Williamsbridge Road, was started by a World War II veteran who died last year at the age of 88. It includes several tombstones that represent different wars in which U.S. veterans fought.

Several veterans from the Bronx were among the attendees celebrated during the service.
