MOTT HAVEN - As a man who was shot several times in Mott Haven fights for his life, police are reviewing surveillance video as they search for two men wanted in the crime.

The surveillance video, which News 12 obtained, shows two men jumping out from behind parked cars and shooting the 37-year-old victim as he walks past them around 3 a.m. Friday in front of a pre-kindergarten on Union Avenue near Southern Boulevard. The two men then flee the scene.

A security guard, who saw the victim lying on the ground bleeding and screaming for help, called 911. The victim was conscious when he was transported to Lincoln Medical Center in critical condition, according to authorities. He was shot in the head, groin and arm, according to authorities.

Nearby residents say the bullets could have struck the window of a home where children live.

Although school wasn't in session at the time of the shooting, adults bringing children to school later that morning saw the area cordoned off and bloodied clothing that was left behind. The school opened in September, and parents hope this is an isolated incident.

School officials used a different entrance to the building in order to divert parents and children away from the crime scene.

Anyone with information about the two suspects is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
