THE BRONX - A man was captured on surveillance video early Monday morning checking several cars before breaking into one of them.

The incident happened around 3:30 a.m. on East 226th Street. The suspect is seen scouting out vehicles before going through one that was unlocked.

Police say drivers shouldn't leave items in their cars and should always lock vehicles in order to deter would-be thieves.

Neighbors tell News 12 that they do not recognize the man seen in the video.

Police are reviewing the video to see if items were stolen from any other vehicles on the block.
