THE BRONX - Police are searching for a man who they say was caught on video stealing a puppy from a pet shop in the Bronx.

It happened on May 4 inside R&K Pet Shop on East Tremont Avenue.

Police say the man removed a black and brown teacup Yorkie puppy from a cage and walked out of the store without paying for it.

He is described as being 5 feet 8 inches tall, 220 pounds and was last seen wearing a black-hooded sweater, a dark-colored baseball cap, light blue jeans and tan work boots.

Chrishelle Glover, who was working at the time of the theft, says the man came into the store carrying a box and said he was selling fish products. Glover says she told the man she was not interested in fish products, and after around 25 minutes, he picked up the box and went to leave. On his way out, he stole the dog, she says.

A family had put a down payment on the puppy, but will now be purchasing another dog.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
