SOUNDVIEW - After facing financial troubles, a volunteer Soundview fire department is reopening.

In the aftermath of the Sept. 11 attacks, hundreds of thousands of dollars poured into the Aviation Fire Company, but all the money went missing a few years later.

Past leaders of the Aviation Fire Company have denied any wrongdoing.

Local residents say the volunteer fire department, which is known for its quick response times, provides a vital service.
