THE BRONX - The city Department of Transportation and New York Cares teamed up to transform a regular traffic concrete barrier on East 180th Street into a unique piece of art.

As part of the DOT’s beautification project, volunteers picked up their paint brushes to brighten up the barrier. They had the help of artist Mayuko Fujno.

Funjno says the artwork is meant to signify the beginning of spring.

The DOT’s beautification project spans all five boroughs during the spring and fall.
