Volunteers celebrate holiday by pitching in at KHCC

THE BRONX - Bronx volunteers rolled up their sleeves Saturday as part of Global Service Day.

The Kingsbridge Heights Community Center held its largest service event ever, giving the place a facelift through improvements to the center. Young volunteers and parents helped build a new vegetable garden and outdoor amphitheatre.

Families that use the center say the efforts will help ensure the center can continue to serve back the community for years to come. The Kingsbridge Heights Community Center offers free programs year-round to residents.
