THE BRONX - A wake was held Saturday for the NYPD traffic agent from the Bronx who was killed on the job last week.

Kalyanarat Ranasinghe, 71, died last week after he was struck by a vacuum truck while on the job in midtown Manhattan.

Ranasinghe had worked for the city's Traffic Enforcement Department for six years.

Ranasinghe came to the United States from Sri Lanka to support his son's dream of going to college in America. His family says he was a hard worker who was dedicated to providing his loved ones a better life.
