Water main work leaves Van Nest residents high and dry

THE BRONX - Some Van Nest residents are airing construction concerns as water main work is leaving many nearby homes without water during the day.

The city's Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) says it's installing new water mains on Wallace Avenue between Bronxdale and Rhinelander avenues. A spokesperson says the project requires shutting off water to the area each day from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Residents say that since work on the project began on Monday, they're eager to get back to their normal routines.

A DEP spokesperson says the work should be completed in a few days.
