THE BRONX - Some Riverdale residents are waking up relieved to have water again after two main breaks.
Crews with the Department of Environmental Protection worked through the night on Waldo Avenue to repair the breaks, one of which was the size of a thumb and the other the size of a baseball.
Water bubbled up and flooded the street, and workers had to shut off water to those living nearby as they hurried to fix the problem.

Although everything has since returned to normal, the exact cause of the breaks remains unclear. Officials say the pipes are old and may have just broken down naturally with age.
