Weather update: Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for The Bronx

THE BRONX - Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) is urging New Yorkers to be prepared as severe thunderstorms zero in on the tri-state area.

Heavy downpours, high winds and possible tornadoes are expected, which could cause widespread power outages.

The Department of Buildings (DOB) is also advising all property owners and contractors to secure their job sites ahead of the storms.
