Webster Ave. could get family friendly makeover

A rezoning of Webster Avenue could cause a shift that turns the area into a residential and retail sector instead of one dominated by auto

THE BRONX - A rezoning of Webster Avenue could cause a shift that turns the area into a residential and retail sector instead of one dominated by auto shops.

Community members say they wanted a comprehensive rezoning plan to help encourage residential living in the area. However, area businesses say they wanted to make sure they had an affordable place to relocate. The rezoning would hit points along Webster Avenue at East 193rd, Bedford Park Boulevard, East 205th Street and East Gun Hill Road.

A new rezoning plan and impact statement is expected to be completed by September.
