Westpoint Military Academy accepts BX teen

THE BRONX - A Bronx teen got the surprise of his life today when he was told he had been accepted into Westpoint Military Academy.

Westpoint Academy officers say they called Roberto Huie, 17, of Morris Heights and nearly 50 other Eagle Academy for Young Men students together for what they thought would be a career presentation. However, the gathering was actually to announce that Huie had been accepted into the academy.

Admission officers for Westpoint say it's not easy to get in to the academy.  They require academic excellence, a medical examination and a congressional nomination.

So far, Huie is the only minority from New York City who has been accepted into the academy.
