Doctor Joseph Feuerstein says ginger and turmeric, both used in higher doses, act as an anti-inflammatory to reduce swelling and pain. He also suggests using acupuncture, especially for joint pain.

"There are actual classical acupuncture points in the knee and a reasonably good amount of research to suggest that this will help with pain and inflammations," Feuerstein said.
