(08/23/10) MORRISANIA - NYC Green Cart and a Bronx-based, non-profit organization are looking to put more money in residents? pockets by teaching them how to open a healthy business.

Women's Housing and Economic Development Corporation (WHEDco) on Intervale Avenue is holding two free training programs tomorrow that will teach people how to apply for a NYC Green Cart permit and a business loan to get things rolling.

The Bronx currently has 134 Green Carts and the city is allowing the borough to get 216 more. WHEDco Project Developer Kerry McLean says becoming a Green Cart vendor is important because the "South Bronx needs better access to fruits and vegetables in order to increase the health outcomes of community members."

One session is being held at 1330 Intervale Ave. from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and the other is at 555 Bergen Ave. from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
