White House graduates interns in the Bronx

NORWOOD - A new six-week internship program started by President Barack Obama wrapped up at Montefiore Hospital yesterday.

The White House Summer Jobs + program placed teens in various hospital departments and paired them with mentors. The program is designed to provide disadvantaged youth with career guidance and life skills.

More than 50 people applied for only 10 spots in the program. They received diplomas on completion of the internship.

Montefiore employees say they hope the program continues for years to come.
