Witnesses: Cop involved in ticketing scandal attempts suicide

THE BRONX - An off-duty police officer with ties to the city's ticket-fixing scandal attempted suicide by jumping onto the subway tracks at the 238th Street subway station, according to witnesses.

Witnesses say the officer tried to grab the electrified third rail, which could have killed him. He has been hospitalized with minor injuries.

Various reports say the officer was involved with possible ticket-fixing in several Bronx precincts. Officers throughout the borough are accused of fixing tickets for family and friends. A grand jury has been investigating the allegations, and at least one officer has pleaded guilty.
