THE BRONX - Witnesses say a speeding car on Jerome Avenue hit and killed a 78-year-old man Friday.

According to eyewitnesses, the Jeep lost control, collided with a cab, hit the man and slammed into a Monroe College building on the corner of Jerome Avenue and 190th Street.

Witnesses also say the Jeep ran a red light. Some students say they feel lucky because their bus stopped at the intersection minutes after the crash.
