Witnesses say a Monday night police chase ended in a crash on Washington Avenue in Melrose.According to witnesses, the car was mangled after it crashed

MELROSE - Witnesses say a Monday night police chase ended in a crash on Washington Avenue in Melrose.

According to witnesses, the car was mangled after it crashed into scaffolding at a construction site. The driver and passenger were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Officials say affordable housing is being built at the construction site.

Authorities will not confirm if the crash was the result of a police chase.
