THE BRONX - A Bronx woman has been named the borough's "ambassador" for the online photo-sharing and social networking service Instagram.

Melisa Venegas works full time in finance by day, but also moonlights as a photographer nights and weekends.

Out of more than 2,000 New Yorkers who submitted photos, the 33-year-old was appointed by city officials as the winning photographer to represent the Bronx. Venegas' winning photo was captured last summer.

Venegas says she plans to take photos of everything that makes the borough special, such as the New York Botanical Garden and Pelham Bay Park.

All of Venegas' pictures will appear on the city's Instagram page.
