THE BRONX - A woman was rescued after a two-alarm fire broke out in a Bronx apartment building on Friday.

Witnesses say the fire broke out in apartment 6F, which is on the top floor of a six-story residential building at 2769 Matthews Ave.

The resident was rescued by firefighters who got her out of her apartment and brought her down on a ladder. The woman says she is doing OK.

A witness called 911 when she heard the woman’s screams and saw the blaze. The witness says firefighters arrived on scene very quickly and put out the fire in less than 10 minutes.

The fire reportedly reached two alarms shortly before 4:30 p.m.

Two minor injuries have been reported.
