Woman struck, pinned by NYPD tow truck

THE BRONX - A woman was rushed to the hospital today after being struck and pinned by an NYPD tow truck in The Bronx.

The victim, Carolina Salvador, was crossing Morris Avenue when the truck backed over her, according to witnesses.

Bystanders say they tried to get the driver's attention, but say he was on his cell phone. He didn't respond until someone knocked on his window. After that, he got out of his truck and called for an ambulance, witnesses say.

News 12 The Bronx - has reached out to police to confirm that the driver was on his cell phone at the time, but has not yet received a response.Salvador's relatives say she was taken to Lincoln Hospital, where doctors are performing X-rays.
