THE BRONX - The city has launched its first-ever blacklist for animal abusers. 

The do-not-adopt list functions just like a sex offender registry to prevent pets from being adopted into the wrong hands. 

However, since the Animal Abuse Registration Act did not pass until last year, the registry only applies to people who were committed of animal abuse after Oct. 2, 2014. 

News 12 talked to Bronx viewers about whether they think the registry will help. Most think it's a great step, but they hope to see even more being done for innocent animals.
