Word on the Street: City noise
THE BRONX - Considering noise in New York is the No. 1 quality of life complaint among residents, it is no surprise that the city has earned the nickname "the city that never sleeps.”
The city’s 311 hotline receives approximately 300,000 phone calls a year related to noise. News 12 took to the streets to hear what residents had to say about the noise.
Many people here in the Bronx have grown accustomed to the noise and accept it as a part of life in this area. Some even said that without noisy services such as buses and trains, no one would be able to get to work and make a living.

Noise violations can range from $70 to as much as $8,000 dollars for something such as loud music.
