THE BRONX - McDonald's has announced that starting next year, it will be asking if you want an alternative to fries with your meal.

Customers will have the option to substitute a salad or fruit, instead of the fried favorite, at no additional cost.

News 12 asked Bronx residents about the healthier options, and most thought it was a good idea.

The fast food giant says the changes will first take effect in 20 major markets worldwide, but will be fully implemented by 2020.
