Worker falls off scaffolding, escapes injury

THE BRONX - A man fell from the platform he was working on at Montefiore Medical Center Wednesday after dozens of bricks came tumbling off the building, witnesses say.

The impact of the materials plummeting to the ground knocked the craftsman, working on the building?s facade, off the scaffold.

?We saw a guy hanging from the end by his arm,? says an eyewitness, Calvin Brown.According to a spokesperson for Montefiore Medical Center, the worker?s safety harness saved his life. He fell about 4 feet, but was able to scramble back onto the scaffolding with the help of his partner.

Local residents say they were nervous to hear about yet another construction-related accident.

A spokesperson for the medical center says the worker escaped any injury- he didn?t even walked into the hospital for a check-up.
