THE BRONX - A falling crate crushed and killed a worker in Throgs Neck just before 8 a.m Tuesday.

An MTA spokesperson says Nick Cavataio, of Pennsylvania, was trying to unload a wooden cabinet off a truck when it fell off the lift and crushed him.

Authorities say the 62-year-old had been working to install some electrical equipment at the Throgs Neck Bridge headquarters at the time of the incident. They say he was a worker for Hellman Electric Corporation.

Other workers were there with other contracting companies at the time of the incident, but no one else was injured.
