Yankees go to bat for those less fortunate

THE BRONX - The New York Yankees today held their annual food drive today as fans donated food to the needy and got discounts to baseball games.

Fans lined up outside of Gate 2 with their non-perishable groceries to help out the less fortunate and get vouchers for general-admission tickets or free bleacher and grandstand seats.

"For people from the tri-state area to come down and give up their resources to help people in The Bronx, I think it's a great thing," said Yankees manager Joe Girardi.
