Young student collects coins for Haiti

BRONX - Seventh-grader Adam Israfil collected $298.77 for Haiti earthquake relief simply by going door-to-door and asking for change.

The M.S. 101 student was prompted to help when other students at his school decided to collect money for Haiti. Together the students raised around $2,000 to donate to the Red Cross.

Bronx state Sen. Jeff Klein donated $300 to match Adam?s collections.

Bronx Congressman Joseph Crowley also awarded Adam a certificate of recognition.
