THE BRONX - Authorities have arrested a Bronx father who is accused of abducting his own children.

According to police, Fitz Edwards fired a shot at his girlfriend during a domestic dispute Sunday morning, lit a fire in her Allerton apartment, and then took off with their 2-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son. They say Edwards carjacked a Honda Accord at gunpoint and sped off with the kids in tow.

Both children were found safe inside the stolen vehicle in Harlem a short time later following an Amber Alert. Their mother is also safe and unharmed.

Edwards is facing a number of charges, including robbery, assault, arson and reckless endangerment.
