Four allegedly violent criminals are off the streets after an undercover operation by the Bridgeport Police Department.
Police say they were searching for a stolen Nissan Altima and suspects they believed were involved in a reported shooting on Trumbull Avenue Thursday afternoon, according to Capt. Brian Fitzgerald.
Four men, two wearing masks, pulled up to Hollister Avenue later that night where the stolen car was parked.
Undercover cops at the scene took two of them into custody, but the two others ran away. Both were caught soon after.
Jordan Delgado, Keishawn Donald, Zamir Hairston, and a 17-year-old male are charged with carrying pistols without permits, weapons in motor vehicles, and interfering with police. Two also have stolen gun-related charges.
Police say they are part of a gang and believe they were going to do another shooting.
The suspects are known to police with several having violent criminal records.
Capt. Fitzgerald says the force has increased its presence in the East End of the city.
"We have a uniform presence out there that people will see, but then we also have an undercover presence that continually monitors violent activity in that area," he said. "We try to intervene before something bad happens, and last night we were lucky and we were able to."
