THE BRONX - Residents and politicians are remembering former New York City Mayor Ed Koch, who died of congestive heart failure this morning. He was 88.

Koch was born in The Bronx and served as mayor for three terms, from 1978 to 1989. He is remembered for being an upfront and feisty mayor who was known for asking residents, “How am I doing?”

"Borough presidents, members of Congress and other people have worked hard to rebuild The Bronx where it is today," said Rep. Jose Serrano (D-N.Y.). "I don't think it would've happened if he had not said it has to happen. He did not forget the borough he was born in."

The funeral for Koch will be held on Monday.
