THE BRONX - A brand new ice rink has officially opened in The Bronx.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held before the rink's first skaters hit the ice in Van Cortlandt Park. Officials say the rink was 10 years in the making and is the first to come to the borough in nearly 30 years.

The rink will be open at noon seven days a week, and skate rentals are available for a small fee. Skating lessons are also being offered through the winter, with the first session being held Nov. 28. The deadline to sign up is Wednesday.
